Pat made all the arrangement and reservations with Plummer's Lodge at Great Slave Lake, the air lines and Winnipeg Hotel. All well done and all I had to do was to pack the right tings and show up.Really nice! SAT.AUG. Margie drove me down from the boat to Pat's house in Barrie and Linley drove Pat and I to Pearson Airport to get out West Jet flight to Winnipeg.Flight to Winnipeg was smmoth and uneventfull. We checked into the Four Points Hotel which is directly connected to the Winnipeg airport.Nice room at a discount price as a Plummer customer.Plummer staff with identifying red tee shirts were at hotel to load baggage to take to First Air flite at 4:30am the next morning! We had a very poor dinner at the hotel and went to bed early to get our flite to Plummer's lodge the next morning at 4:30am. We are on our way-so far so good! SUN.Aug 7th Up ay 4;00am to get 4;30am chrck in for first Air Flite to Plummer's Lodge on great slave Lake.Coffee and donuts in hotel lobby with plummer;s staff and fellow fisher people.Exciting, fun atmosphere.Very convivial.I got atograph of a returnee whose picture was on the Plummer's brochure. He laughrs and thought i was kidding but he dod sign my brochure..Lots of very expensive fishing gear and many people who have been here many times enroute to Great Slave or further north to Great Bear Lake.Pat got a good idea to make a rod holder out of PVC pipe to protect his rods.We walked over to airport and Pat cheched his bag and i checked one small carry one and kept the other one with pills etc.First Air flite is operated by natives and they were flying a 737 to the gravel Great Slave air strip and then on to Great Bear .Cabin staff very efficient and friendly and served a great breakfast of smoked char, eggs, sausage, steak, small salad, coffee and fruit..Best breakfast since i lasr flew 1st class KLM! 4 hour plus flite to Great Slave gravel strip with slope at end to slow aircraft down and give lift when leaving. Two staff on runway with shotguns/rifles to stop animals going on runway. What kind of animals"moose, bear, wloves! Brakes applied quick and hard with many of the returning guest hooting and hollering.Exciting and fun!yellow old school bus ride to maimnlodge for check in and cabin assignment.Bags delivered to our assigned cabin. We got to our cabin,Pat's bag there but not mine!Manager said it was just likely misplaced and would be found later.Back to main lodge for orientation, dinner seat assignment and dinner.Notes don;t show and I forget what we had for dinner but whatever we had it was good! Our dinner guests Bob and judy seemed like nice people and as you will see later were very interesting and entertaing. No bag yet but told not to worry.I was getting worried as my rain suit boots and warm sweaters were in that bag. Both in bed in our modest plywood cabin in single beds at 8;30.Fresh clen cool air..Great sleep and looking forward to to-morrow;s fishing. MON.AUG.12th Hot coffee in thermos brought to cabin door at 6:00am.We are up and dressed for 7:30 breakfast at main lodge.Oatmeal,omlette,bacon,toast,fruit,coffee--very good! Pat back to cabin to get into his new red fishing suit.Pete to manager to find lost bag.Manager says it likely went to Great Bear Lake.He loans me a ratty pair of rain pants and an old greeb quilted jacket.I find a new pair of insulated rubber boots,my size! There is a higher power! We mmet Matt ,our guide at the boat and head out at 9:00am a bit late and no safety instructions, just 3 old life jacquets in an 18' aluminum Lund boat.Weather cool, cloudy and expecyed to got tp 60's.We stop at the "hump" to drift and jig--a few hits but no landings.
